Die Stellenbosch Libertaskoor onder dirigent Johan de Villiers sal `n wye verskeidenheid gewyde en sekulere koormusiek aanbied. Komposisies van Eric Whitacre en Karl Jenkins word ingesluit, waaronder uittreksels uit laasgenoemde se “The Peacemakers”. In ligter trant volg daarna uitvoerings van vokale musiek uit films, onder andere `n nuwe verwerking deur Gerhard Niemand van Leonard Cohen se Hallelujah. Oudergewoonte is daar ook `n sterk teenwoordigheid van inheemse Suid-Afrikaanse musiek, wat strek van Lungile Jacobs se Agnus Dei in Sotho, tradisionele liedere in Xhosa en Zulu op religieuse tekste, asook egte Kaapse moppies. The Stellenbosch Libertas choir, conducted by Johan de Villiers, will be performing a wide selection of sacred and secular music during this long-awaited performance in the Cape Town CBD. Compositions of Eric Whitacre and Karl Jenkins will be presented, including sections from Jenkins` “The Peacemakers”. They`ll also sing some vocal music from the silver screen with a new arrangement of Leonard Cohen`s ?Hallelujah?. There will be a variety of indigenous South African music as well, including Lungile Jacobs` Agnus Dei in Sotho, traditional isiXhosa and isiZulu songs and Cape “moppies”.
